Puppy Cookies

July 29, 2012

Don’t feel too badly for these little fellas.  They are headed along with the rest of their brothers and sisters, to a good home where they will be welcomed with opened arms.

Ron and I are off to Quebec for a few days where we will be spending some time with both family and friends.  His nephew Eric and his wife Caroline live only a few minutes away from our friends Bill and Nicole.  Eric and Caroline have invited us to their home for dinner one evening and I thought I’d make a batch of cookies for their young daughter Angelique and her little brother Connor.  Who can resist cute little sad-eyed puppies?!

These cookies were made with the use of my KopyKake and though I could have waited a little longer for the white base coat to dry, when you are in a time crunch waiting is not always an option.  I had to contend with a bit of a bleed with the black piping but it’s nothing serious and I doubt Angelique and Conner are going to mind.

Apologizing for the poor picture quality (these were decorated during the evening) here’s how I made these little puppies.

Pipe then flood your white base coat.  Best to let them dry completely before doing the next step.

Outline your puppies with black piping icing.

Flood the face with your choice of flood icing colour.  With faces still wet, add black circles for eyes and nose, small lines for eyebrows and then add a drop of white piping icing at the right of each eye.

Food the body of the puppies and let dry overnight.

Next day add the mouths and little lines around the chest area.

Bundle them all up nice and cozy and deliver them to their new owners!

Paula, these puppy-cookies are ADORABLE! I’m going to send the link to my sister in law, Alicia who loves to bake. And I think I’ll bake some of a good friend, who’s a vet by profession & will celebrate a birthday soon. Enjoy Quebec! I loved it when we visited a year ago. Thanks for the blog visit, always a pleasure to hear from you!
