My Corny Valentines – #2

January 27, 2013

Hello from sunny Florida!  Ron, Max and I left a freezing minus 25° C Perth on Wednesday morning and on Friday afternoon we arrived at our rental to a lovely plus 74° F.  Today it reached 82° F.  Talk about an environmental culture shock but we are getting used to it pretty darn quickly!  I’m curious to see what happens to our dog Max while we are here.  I’m sure he will lose his Winter coat and then his body clock will be all confused when we get back to Ontario in a few weeks!

Anyhoo, now that we are settled in and comfy in our surroundings, it’s time to share my second set of corny Valentine cookies with you.  I used my Kopykake to draw these and given that they are Valentine cookies, I tried to re-shape their black spotted coats to look a little heart-shaped.

Without further ado, Happy Valentine wishes from my Corny Cows…

Love you till the cows come home

I used the large frame cutter to make these and piped the border with pink piping icing using a #2 tip.

Piping

When the piping icing dried, I flooded the cookie with pink flood icing.

Flooding

I let the flood icing dry overnight and then traced the image of the cow with black piping icing and a #2 tip. (see the heart shapes?!)

Outline

With the black piping dry, it was time to start filling in my bovines.  The black flood icing was used first.

Fill Spots

Next came the flooding of the nose and udders using a darker shade of pink flood icing.

Fill Nose & Udders

Finally I filled in the remainder of the cows with white flood icing and made a few black spots on the tail and legs.  White piping icing and a #1.5 tip was used to write the corny messages.  Red piping icing was used to make little hearts.  A black edible marker was used to draw the eyes and outline the hooves as well as tracing over the black piping in some areas.

You Udderly Move Me

How about you?  Do you have someone who udderly moves you?  Somone you’ll love ’till the cows come home?  Make them some cookies!

Utterly adorable! Keep the corny cookies coming. I love them. :) I hope you’re enjoying Florida. I was born and raised in Tampa, where most of my family still lives. Sometimes I miss the heat but I don’t really miss the humidity.

Thanks Mike! We are about an hour from Tampa. It’s not humid here yet, just a lot warmer than what we left behind in Canada :)

We just returned from Ft. Lauderdale yesterday and it was just gorgeous! We’ll have to plan to meet someday in Florida! The littlevalentine cows are not only cute as can be, but the sayings are great!

Hi Marisa. Thanks for your sweet comment. I can’t imagine living in a climate where the weather is beautiful and sunny most of the time. The Canaries sound idyllic :)

Thanks Mardi. We check the weather back home every day. The cold snap still hasn’t let go up there. Hope to bring some of the warmth back with us for sure :)

Thanks Karen! We are indeed enjoying the lovely weather. Ron’s golfed almost every day since we arrived. I’ve caught a cold and been resting and catching up on my reading. Hope to feel better enough to golf on Thursday for the first time. Hope you are feeling better yourself.
