Hello!  My name is Paula.  I am the mother of two, the grandmother of three and like most *cookiers*, I’m a self-taught decorator.  After  falling in love with this edible art form I created The Vanilla Bean Baker Blog in March of 2010 to share my decorating experiences.

The Vanilla Bean Baker is a family-centric site dedicated to showcasing my homemade, hand-decorated sugar cookies.  It is a place of sharing whereby people can come and enjoy the occasional story along with lots of creative cookies.  Every once in awhile, I’ll bake something other than cookies but my passion is working with royal icing and more recently I am enjoying decorating cookies with edible images.  I love the entire Paula of The Vanilla Bean Baker process of taking delicious but *naked* homemade sugar cookies and transforming them into creative treats while enjoying the challenges a new design can bring.  Here you will find decorating tutorials, meet some of my family members, and get to know some of my decorating peers.  Along the way you will be introduced to some very talented people and organizations who are contributing greatly to some of the wonderful content out in the blogosphere.

Thank you for stopping by my site.

Hi Paula,

I just watched your YouTube video on icing and decorating ice cream cone cookies. I found your video to be very informative and fun to listen to. I hope this is the beginning of many more videos to come!

Curious that you use vanilla bean paste & not pure ground vanilla or pure vanilla extract. A lot of vanilla paste is made with post extracted beans used to make vanila extract & sugar is added to make the paste as well. Much of the vanilla flavor is lost in the post extracted beans. The best vanilla flavor would come from using a fresh vanilla bean & would be less inexpensive than vanilla paste. Our Organic Vanilla Products at http://www.beaninthebottlevanilla.com are 100% organic & made with the finest ingredients.
