Just a quick post here. I don’t know if anyone else has tried this but I did it for the first time today and it worked. So, I thought I’d share just in case there are other absent-minded decorators out there like me.
Ever start to decorate a cookie and realize (particularly at this time of year) that you actually wanted to make a cookie ornament but forgot to cut the hole before baking your cookie?
Well, today I decided after I had already piped a cookie that I wanted to make an ornament with it but I hadn’t cut the hole for the ribbon.
So, I froze the cookie for a few minutes…probably 10-12. Then I took it out of the freezer and with a piping tip, I began to core a hole. Just place the tip on the cookie and press down gently but firmly as you turn the tip back and forth.
Repeat this clockwise, counter clockwise turning until you core completely through the frozen cookie.
Brush away the crumbs, clean out your tip and continue as normal. Well (speaking for myself) as normal as any absent-minded, forgetful baker can be.

Thanks for the tip!
Necessity is the mother of invention right…or you are.
Paula,
Great tip and with Christmas right around the corner I’m sure forgetful me wll have more than one or two chances to use it! Thank you!
How clever! I’m a fan of making multiple uses out of kitchen items.
that is great, I always worried the holes would close when I bake them, so this is perfect.
Great tip Paula, perfect to hang some cookies on a tree.
that is so smart! I bet I’ll use that little tip in the future
Now I would never think of this and love that I came here to get this tip from you today. I will be baking cookies soon and will impress everyone and tell them you showed me how to do it:)
Thanks for the tip, I am the queen of plan B and plan C. I am always forgetting.
